The Clement Monterey is an InterContinental Hotel located on Cannery Row in Monterey; CA. Decorative exterior lighting was specified to enhance and compliment the nostalgic “Cannery Row” architectural design. Anti-corrosion finishes were selected to withstand the caustic saltwater environment yet age with a patina. Lighting for the more contemporary interior was designed for maximum efficiency in a comfortable 2700K color temperature. Efficient lighting fixtures combined with a multi-scene lighting control system achieved an overall 0.85 w/sf power density. In the main stairwell, hidden projectors cast a kinetic array of colored lights on the ceiling to simulate water reflections with undersea sound effects. A hanging fiber optic “jelly fish” chandelier completes a magical underwater experience as a nod to the adjacent Monterey Bay Aquarium.
